The Dutch sprinter from Quick-Step – Alpha Vinyl rode lonely in front of the broom wagon, while the time he had to finish, just over 32 minutes after stage winner Tadej Pogacar, ticked away. Strongly encouraged by coaches and fans, Jakobsen won by a margin of just 15 seconds.
The Dutchman, winner of the second stage, had to lie down immediately. On Thursday, another test awaits him with the last Pyrenees stage. Jakobsen is committed to finishing the Tour. In Paris normally a prestigious sprint for the last stage victory awaits on Sunday.
