Sam Vance-Law has released a new song. “Icarus” is the third single from his new album GOODBYE, which is due out on May 6th. Watch the video here.

In “Icarus,” his label says, Sam Vance-Law is adapting the Greek saga of young Icarus, “who flew too close to the sun on wings built by his father to flee King Minos – outcome known.” As a metaphor for relationship dynamics, a double level of interpretation is revealed here: “Can one blame Icarus for his daring escape at all, given the restricting circumstances? Was his desire for freedom really so cocky?” “The narrator’s voice here is not to be trusted,” says Vance-Law himself.

The Canadian and Berliner by choice Sam Vance-Law has released one album so far. In 2018 his debut HOMOTOPIA was released, followed by the radio single “Gayby”. An EP with cover versions of songs from the Neue Deutsche Welle followed in 2021 with NDW. Vance-Law was also involved in the recording of Casper’s new album EVERYTHING WAS BEAUTIFUL AND NOTHING THAT HURT. Tribulation guest-starred in Vance-Law’s video for Get Out / Been Drinking.
