VIDEO: Oona (10) and Herbert Flack have to help the Bruges police to new colleagues

“There are now and then vacancies for civilian personnel, but the Bruges corps mainly struggles with a shortage of uniformed employees,” says the police zone. “That’s not new, but the shortage is becoming more and more noticeable, especially now that the recruitment procedure has recently been changed and local zones are getting more say themselves.” (read more below the video)

The new recruitment rules mean that each force has to announce vacancies at a much earlier stage and, moreover, has to appeal to many more people than before. The Bruges Police is trying to do that with a film in which Oona Debruyne plays the leading role. She is 10 and plays a girl who is chasing her dream of becoming a cop. Some real police officers from the Bruges police were also on set.
