The outdoor pools in Limburg are preparing for the new season. This also applies to the Groot Venlo outdoor pool. But that is more difficult, because many volunteers have dropped out due to the corona pandemic.
The swimming pool in Blerick is short of lifeguards, cashiers and maintenance staff. Normally there are about 85 volunteers around during the season.
Corona and bad summer
“Due to the corona for two years and also because of the bad summer last year, we lost some volunteers,” says Hans Huijs of Buitenbad Groot Venlo. Bath supervisor and volunteer Djairo Robben notices that there are fewer volunteers. “More people are being scheduled.”
The pool is looking for volunteers. If they are not found in time, it is feared that measures will have to be taken, such as reduced opening hours.
