On the occasion of the controversy unleashed by the absence of the deputy Javier Milei in the vote of Budget 2023a video went viral on Twitter where the journalist Hugo Alconada Mon released strong statements about the libertarian. It is an excerpt from an interview Luis Novaresio he did to Alconada Mon on his TV show LN+, “+Interviews” Some weeks ago.
“Do you say that ‘Milei is a surprise, she is covered up’? No, she used to work for the company Edward Eurnekian, and when you asked inside that company, it did not work. Actually he charged to go or not go. Does this mean that I am saying that it was a gnocchi? I don’t know if it’s necessarily a gnocchi, but They paid him for something he didn’t do. Very anti-system Milei, but in practice he ended up falling into those vices. And also, how does Milei finance the campaign?”, the journalist had expressed in that interview.
The video was leveraged on Twitter after the libertarian was questioned after the implementation of a new tax on airline tickets was approved by just one vote to finance the Airport Security Police (PSA). In networks, many of his critics -and even his usual followers- of him were angry with Milei, holding him responsible for not being there to vote against this initiative.
The count ended with 123 votes in favor, 122 against and 11 absent legislators. Being the result so even, the absentees received criticism from those who opposed the article that referred to said tax. Javier Mileiwho even declared that he would “cut off his arm” before raising a tax, did not participate in said vote, and the legislators of Together for Change called the new rate the “Miley rate”a term that quickly became a trend in networks.
From the libertarian space, they assured that “the block participates in the votes, in particular, if the project is previously approved in general. as in this case we reject the initiative (Budget 2023) we withdraw from the room because we are not part of the caste’s trances that occur before each article-by-article vote. That was the reason for our absence.” Nevertheless, in the eight months that Javier Milei has been a deputy, he was not in half of the votes that has been up to now.
