Kwasniok praises SCP team

SCP trainer Lukas Kwasniok summed up after the game on the sports show microphone: “It’s not a matter of course, it can be zero to zero for 25 or 30 minutes.” His team would have accepted the situation well. To the four-time goalscorer Pieringer he said: “A good start is always important. It was also served well.”

“In the end it’s clear, some goals were scored very unnecessarily“Wernigerode’s Lucas Pillich looked back. Nevertheless, he also feels “Proud to have been there”.

Paderborn dominates the heated start in the Harz Mountains

It was a heated start in the Wernigerode sports forum, where FC Unit went because the Mannsberg stadium at home could not meet the DFB requirements. Because after less than five minutes there were already two scenes, after which players stayed on the ground and complained about the missing whistle.

And Paderborn striker Denis Srbeny was right to do so, because unit captain Danny Wersig hit Srbeny in the face with his fist in the penalty area (4′). Referee Richard Hempel overlooked that – and as is well known, the VAR does not yet exist in the first round of the cup.

The hosts from the Harz acted combatively, got down to business passionately in the duels and did a lot of running work. But that was also forced, because Paderborn took over the scepter, befitting its status. Barely ten minutes had been played before two quick attacks by the SCP had ended with goals from Justvan and Leipertz.

Eintracht goalkeeper Helmstedt prevents worse

The Oberliga side, represented for the first time in the DFB Cup main round, stuck to their own route and countered with physical toughness. Justvan was rudely cleared by two Eintracht players, but the referee still left the yellow card in place.

Before the half-hour mark, the 35-year-old Eintracht goalkeeper André Helmstedt fished a flick from Srbeny out of the corner with a strong flight (25th). He had previously won a one-on-one duel with Schalke loanee Pieringer (19th).

Justvan hits through the braces

In the person of Moritz Singbeil (38th), Wernigerode then managed to graduate for the first time. The FCE had followed up well in the Paderborn third, but Singbeil’s direct acceptance went over it. Instead, a mismatch in the defense unit between Wersig and Mika Hess resulted in the 3-0 lead by Paderborn’s Pieringer before the break.

Maximilian Dentz, Wernigerode coach, made three of the five options to change at the beginning of the second half and brought fresh energy after the strenuous first half. And right after the restart, Wernigerode unit developed at least two more dangerous situations within a short time, but they remained unused.

FCE defense collapses shortly after restart

The brief flickering of unity and a spirit of optimism came to an abrupt end when goalkeeper Helmstedt, hitherto flawless, let a shot from Justvan pass through his braces to score the fourth SCP goal. And then the unit fell apart. Because the allocation in the center no longer fit at all, Srbeny and Pieringer made it 5: 0, 6: 0 and 7: 0 within a few minutes.

Leipertz also scored twice, made it 8-0 and Srbeny was happy about his second assist of the day. Helmstedt distinguished himself a few more times in the incessant attack of Paderborn and initially prevented further goals, but the substitute Tachie made it 9:0.

The crossbar initially prevented the threatening double-digit bankruptcy in Tachie’s next attempt (69th). But Pieringer showed no mercy against Wernigeroder, who were fighting valiantly again in the meantime, and later increased to 10:0.
