Red Bull’s Dutch driver Max Verstappen won the Hungarian Grand Prix in the Formula 1 World Championship.
The 12th race of the season was held on the 4,381-kilometer Hungaroring Track in the capital, Budapest, over 70 laps.
Despite starting the race from the second row, Verstappen, who passed the Great British driver of the Mercedes team in pole position, Lewis Hamilton, reached the lead in the first lap.
McLaren’s Great Britain driver Lando Norris was second, 33,731 seconds behind the leader, and Verstappen’s teammate, Mexican Sergio Perez, was third, 37,603 seconds behind the leader. Hamilton finished fourth.
The Red Bull team has won the Hungarian Grand Prix for their 12th consecutive race victory and has become the new holder of the record. McLaren, the previous record holder, had 11 consecutive stage victories in 1988 with drivers Ayrton Senna and Alain Prost.
Apart from Verstappen, who is the clear favorite of the championship this season, only his teammate Sergio Perez has reached the top of the podium twice. The 6th stage of the season, the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix, was canceled due to the flooding in Italy.
