Confident is different: VfL Bochum had some trouble with third division club SV Elversberg in the DFB Cup – and still got through.
The man of the evening was Bochum’s captain Anthony Losilla, who scored the 1-0 (0-0) winning goal against SV Elversberg in the 85th minute. “It was bad, we didn’t find any solutions”said Bochum’s Gerrit Holtmann. “All that matters is that we’re through.”
Of course, Bochum was favored because of the league they belonged to – but you didn’t see that on the pitch for a long time. Elversberg initially had the best chance when Kevin Koffi narrowly missed Bochum’s goal with a direct shot from eleven meters (15′).
First Bochum meets aluminum, then Elversberg
It wasn’t until the 40th minute before VfL Bochum appeared dangerously in front of the Elversberger goal. But Christopher Antwi-Adjei had a great chance: After a free kick, Antwi-Adjej got the ball and shot from a tight angle, only to hit the crossbar.
Bochum were unlucky in this scene, just as in the 55th minute when Philipp Hofmann headed just inches wide of the goal. Fifteen minutes after the restart, they were very lucky at VfL. Jannik Rochelt finished on the edge of the penalty area and flicked the ball onto the crossbar (58′).
And then came the 85th minute and Losilla, who first failed at goalkeeper Nicolas Kristof and then got the ball again. And this time Losilla scored too. The rest was cheering from everyone who sticks with VfL Bochum.
The leader is waiting for Bochum
VfL Bochum has a home game against 1. FC Union Berlin in the Bundesliga on Sunday (23.10.2022). SV Elversberg will continue on Saturday (October 22nd, 2022) with a home game in the 3rd division against VfL Osnabrück.
