Victory against Pontoise Cergy: FC Saarbrücken table tennis reaches Champions League semi-finals

1. FC Saarbrücken is in the semi-finals of the Champions League for the third time in a row. FCS TT wins Group D of the second group stage with a 3-1 win over Pontoise Cergy.

After the success in the Bundesliga on Friday evening against Werder Bremen, 1. FC Saarbrücken started the Champions League match well against Pontoise Cergy.

Captain Patrick Franziska defeated Emmanuel Lebesson in five sets in a hard-fought encounter. After that, Darko Jorgic scored a smooth 3-0 against 22-year-old Frenchman Esteban Dorr.

Franziska makes victory perfect

Pontoise reduced the deficit to 2:1 thanks to Marcos Freitas’ victory over Takuya Jin from Saarbrücken. After the break it was Patrick Franziska again who secured FCS TT’s 3-1 win with a commanding 3-0 win over Esteban Dorr.

Saarbrücken is now in the semi-finals of the Champions League and will face either the Bundesliga competition from Neu-Ulm or Mühlhausen.
