Yaoundé (AP) – The Senegal national football team with Liverpool star Sadio Mané is back in the final of the Africa Cup. The Teranga Lions defeated Burkina Faso 3-1 (0-0) and are thus taking the next attempt at their first title win at the continental championship.
Abdou Diallo (70′), Idrissa Gueye (76′) and Mané (87′) scored the goals for the Senegalese, who face either hosts Cameroon or Egypt in Sunday’s final.
At the last Africa Cup of Nations in 2019, Senegal lost 1-0 to Algeria in the final. The top favorites had to wait a long time against Burkina Faso before they scored the opener. Bayern defender Bouna Sarr, who was in the starting XI, was also able to celebrate. In Burkina Faso, who scored an interim goal through Blati Touré (82′), Edmond Tapsoba played in central defence.
