It was a changeable game after the compulsory break due to the corona quarantine. Only in extra time did Bremerhaven prevail against their guests.
The Fischtown Pinguins put in a successful effort in their first DEL game after a team quarantine. Against the Schwenninger Wild Wings, the North Germans, who had been weakened by replacements, won 4: 3 after extra time on Wednesday evening.
The Pinguins started the game with a quick lead by Vladmir Eminger in the 4th minute. In the second round, Jan Urbas extended the lead (33′). But Tomas Zaborsky scored the connection (39th) for the guests from Schwenningen shortly before the end of the period.
“It was a tough time for us”
In the final third it became more and more exciting: Zaborsky scored again and equalized to 2:2 (44:15), Tyson Spink even scored the 3:2 lead for the Schwenniger (45:23). It was Tye McGinn who equalized for Bremerhaven in the 59th minute and forced extra time. In the 64th minute, Ziga Jeglic scored the 4th goal for the Penguins to win at home.
This is a very tough time for us at the moment. We have a lot of problems with injuries and Covid. It was all the better to score that goal.

The next duel against Schwenningen on this double match day starts tomorrow, Thursday. Because of several corona cases in the team, the health department sent all Bremerhaven players into quarantine last week. Only on Monday were the first 13 field players and three goalkeepers allowed to resume training after negative tests. Coach Thomas Popiesch only had three rows available for the first game against Schwenningen.
