Victoria Koblenko jumped in the breach for the farmers at Renze Klamer’s talk show table yesterday. Host Renze meanwhile was eating himself. “It just makes me a little nauseous!”
Farmer Dolf Heikoop was yesterday in Renze Klamer’s talk show opposite two office holders of the VVD: provincial administrator Frederik Zevenbergen and mayor Tanja Haseloop. They want the farmers to stop their current protests, including the flags they hang on lampposts.
Victoria supports farmers
What nonsense, says Victoria Koblenko. She calls out to Tanja: “I would say, really: choose your battlesbecause when things get this high, you could also say: if we have to choose between burning haystacks on the highway and some flags… Then I think the choice is quickly made.”
A little later to Frederik: “Do you know what is so unfortunate? That it is now about flags and not about looking for structural solutions. I now have the feeling that because you do not come out very well with your words, it is very easy to put this away. I also feel that you are trying very hard to get one step closer.”
“Then no one will see me!”
Dolf feels supported by Victoria. “It’s always about the actions and not about the problem! That is very good what you are raising, because the nitrogen problem is still the same.”
Tanja thinks that the farmers should be allowed to protest with a flag, but then on their own land. Dolf: “If I stand in the back of my country waving and screaming with a flag very loudly, hardly anyone will notice. Nice, then I’ll be there waving my flag. We hang it up in places where we have a lot of coverage.”
Renze is annoyed
Renze Klamer has made it no secret in his talk show for a while that he is annoyed by the farmers. He especially denounces that parties are being threatened that want to clean up protest mess from farmers. “It even makes me a little nauseous when I hear that.”
That may well be crossing a border, agrees Dolf. Renze exasperated: “Maybe? Threatening isn’t ‘maybe’, is it? (…) I do have the idea that a lot of Dutch people today wonder when it will end.”
‘Very sorry’
Then Renze to Victoria: “Why is it bothering you so much, Victoria?”
Victoria: “Well, I notice that… Of course: nobody approves of the actions or the fires. That, to me, is paramount. It is only clear that the discussion about this here at the table is being used a bit inappropriately for not hearing from the farmers. I am so sorry.”
Renze: “But haven’t you heard? Who says… Being heard doesn’t mean you get your way. I think the farmers have been heard enough by now.”
Renze Klamer’s talk show yesterday attracted 641 thousand viewers (17 percent) to RTL 4.
