Katja Schuurman has not been very reserved in the run-up to the trial against her ex-lover Thijs Römer, also the father of her child. She has actively sought contact with one of his three victims, namely Nena Kruizenga. She was the only one of the three to seek media attention, paving the way for the other two ladies.

Katja’s statement

According to Nena, Katja has let her know that her daughter is suffering so much from all the accusations. It is unclear whether this was intended as some kind of emotional blackmail, but a conflict eventually developed between the two ladies. According to Nena, she was invited by Katja to ‘come and chill in the sauna’, but the actress denies that.

Katja has been silent for a long time about Thijs’s conviction for online abuse of underage girls, but yesterday she still posted a statement on Instagram. In this she says she does not drop Thijs because he is the father of her daughter, but that she does have ‘deep pain’ about some of Thijs’s behavior and some of the choices.

Victims respond

What do Thijs’ victims think about Katja not letting him down? Maartje Schaap, who assists all three girls, yesterday Humberto: “They have also always said: ‘We really think it is for her, for the daughter and for the other ex and her child, for all the people who are around him…’ My clients are also very sorry for them.”

Maartje continues: “In fact, they have also offered to talk to them, so I can very well imagine this statement from Katja.”

‘Offer still stands’

Host Humberto Tan: “The offer still stands?”

Maartje: “Yes, definitely. And I can imagine her very well getting to a point where she distances herself, because she most likely doesn’t want to go through this all over again. I can well imagine that she now also says: ‘Everything in the interest of my daughter’, but that she is absolutely not waiting for it.

‘Nice response’

Elodie Verweij, political analyst of the late RTL talk shows, praises Katja. “I think it’s a nice reaction in which she actually tries to value everyone – no matter how good or bad it may be. I think: well, I think that is strong.”

And private boss Evert Santegoeds in Show news: “I thought it was a nice statement that she gave, in which you can clearly taste how she struggles with the whole situation. There are still some stitches under water. I think she has put it into words elegantly, while there are some very vicious stitches in it that make it clear how she feels about it.”
