The other two occupants of the car that hit the water also come from there. Both were injured: a 57-year-old woman was seriously injured, a 51-year-old woman slightly injured.

Sunflowers and candles have been placed at the scene of the accident.

The accident happened yesterday morning around 6.40 am at the intersection of the Keinsmerweg with the Grote Sloot. It was then dark and foggy. The foursome’s car collided with another car and then ended up in the water. The other car was still hanging on the bridge; its driver, a 41-year-old man from Anna Paulowna, was not injured.

Self on the side

One of the injured was able to get to the side himself and pointed out to bystanders that there were more people still in the car. “There are three people inside,” she told someone who saw the accident happen, it writes Noordhollands Dagblad. A truck driver with a crane who happened to be driving by, lifted the victims’ car out of the water.

Despite resuscitation, two of these three seriously injured did not make it.
