Victim jumped out of window to escape mafia

By Karin Hendrich

Cigarette smuggling, drug trafficking… Anyone who disrupts or messes up their business will feel the full force of the Vietnamese mafia.

Like Bao G.*, who only escaped with a breakneck leap from the 3rd floor of an apartment building on Cecilienstrasse (Hellersdorf).

His alleged captors: three compatriots (22 to 37 years). They have been sitting in front of the district court since Wednesday. The allegation: extortion kidnapping, dangerous bodily harm, attempted serious extortion.

November 7, 2022. The Vietnamese is on the way at Hellersdorf underground station when, according to the indictment, the trio approached him and, according to the indictment, forced him into the approaching tram with a knife. Then pushed into an apartment on Mittweidaer Straße. There he is supposed to hand over the 6 kilos of ketamine (anaesthetic) that he had received from one of the three.

Transported further to Cecilienstraße in a car, the ordeal continues for him there. They demand the drugs or compensation from him, threaten to kill him.

When Bao G. is alone in the room for a moment, he throws himself out of the window in desperation, breaking his pelvic ring and pubic bone.

And the 15 pounds of ketamine? They were gone. As instructed, he had handed them over to a shop in the “Dong Xuan Center” in Lichtenberg for export to Vietnam. But the shop owner had called the police…

The defendants did not want to comment at the start of the trial. Continued: Tuesday (June 12).
