The Spanish coach Vincent Morenoremarked, after drawing with Osasuna, that the Substitution of Raúl de Tomás was a sporting decisionnot a punishment, and that “there is no problem with him, on the contrary”.
“Obviously, once the game is over, you can think that it was wrong to make a decision like that.but, since you can’t find out until later, you would do the same thing again because at that time it was the most appropriate decision,” Moreno added.
Moreno also acknowledged that the first and second parts were “very different”. In the first act, Espanyol was “bad” and “very nervous”. And “it helped that there was not a good atmosphere.” The coach also explained that during the break he sought to “reassure” his players so that they would withdraw, since “in order to perform, one has to have a clear head.”
He celebrated that the team was better than Osasuna in the second act and that “people were happy with the second half”. “It’s the right thing to do: give it your all. And when you give it your all, and you broadcast it, people recognize it,” he said. He also clarified that “the will, the players, always have it”.
The coach concluded that the team wants to try to finish the season “with the feelings of the second half” and called for an effort to “responsibility towards the fans, the club, each one”.
