Emotions were hot in Sunday night’s NHL playoff game, when the New Jersey Devils beat the visiting Carolina Hurricanes 8-4.

The game got away for the Devils before halftime. There was a lot of frustration in the Hurricanes camp, and their team’s gentleman player as well as the glossy image boy Sebastian Aho was one of those who burned his nerves.

Aho’s fists did the talking after midway through the second round. When the game was 5–1, Aho hit the Devils’ star player with a cross stick Jack Hughes to the middle body. That started a quick boxing and wrestling match, in which Aho ended up with the bottom nail.

The situation was discussed later in Viaplay’s studio. Puck expert Ville Nieminen gave feedback to the raging Aho.

– Sebastian Aho pulls a cross to Jack Hughes in front of the goal. Such things don’t belong in hockey at all, Nemo says with a small laugh.

Playoff wrestling and duels lure the Stanley Cup champion back to the rink.

– I wish I could get there, oh my God.

Nieminen also gave praise to the Finnish attacker.

– There you can see Sebastian Aho, what a fierce competitor… A gambler, a competitor, adrenaline spikes, senses wide open… Oh yes, Nieminen lists.

Hughes was not disturbed by Aho’s tantrums. The number one star of his team produced 2+2 performances during the evening.

Aho, who was also successful in scoring, was also treated harshly in the opening set of the match. Devils striker Tomas Tatar avenged the Finn’s transverse blow by hitting him on the head with a club. Tatar received a two-minute penalty.

The Devils and Hurricanes will meet again on the night between Tuesday and Wednesday. The series is 2–1 in favor of the Hurricanes.
