Viaplay Group’s refinancing is progressing, including the Dutch one Total TV news. The head of the bankrupt company is staying afloat, at least for now.
Financiers and shareholders have committed to injecting more money into the company in order to, among other things, settle old debts.
Viaplay announced in December that it needs a capital package of 360 million euros from the shareholders, of which 280 million is directed to certain owners. Debts must be reorganized for 1.3 million.
Viaplay will organize a general meeting on Wednesday, where the financial matter is to be locked. Two-thirds of the owners are required to support the rescue plan.
Despite the positive signs, the company’s situation is still critical. Emergency funding only brings temporary help to the economy. The company is facing big changes, but they may not be enough either.
GPFans website according to the founder of the Dutch channel RTL Ruud Hendricks is not at all convinced that Viaplay is safe now.
– These measures are just trying to stay alive. This bought more time, Hendricks said.
According to the media boss, sooner or later Viaplay will merge into a larger player in the industry.
