VI Today name must change: ‘Unwise, but understandable’ | TV

Johan Derksen, who was editor-in-chief of the football magazine until 2013, gives text and explanation in the last episode of the talk show under the old name. „The management of VI believes that there is too little football in it and therefore does not suit a football magazine. But we can’t help that it is relevant to do something with corona first and then the war in Ukraine. I do understand their point of view. I don’t think it’s wise, but I do understand their point of view.”

But then the big question: what will the program be called? Derksen announces in a big way: “It had to happen at some point… The Johan Derksen Show† No, I declined. I thought that was rude of you. It is Today Inside† We can use the abbreviation VI do not use. That’s in the contract, the football magazine has those rights. We are Inside Today. (…) Honestly, I think it’s a better name. Talpa wanted VIbut that is Football Internationaland we are not a football program.”

Small bonus

While René van der Gijp is then concerned about all those thousands VI Todayunderwear that fans of the program can order, Wilfred Genee makes a case for the creator of the new name. “Nice to mention: that name was invented by our assistant director, Jolanda Coeland. Single mother… I would say, being Talpa, a little gesture wouldn’t hurt, right? Small bonus or something?”

The talk show started in 2001 as Football Insite and has always had the abbreviation VI had. Seven years later, weekly Football International main sponsor and the program continued under the same name. That collaboration came to an end in 2015. The name was changed to Football Inside, until the men went to Talpa and it was renamed Veronica Inside and, as of the beginning of this year, VI Today
