Johan Derksen, René van der Gijp and Wilfred Genee are open to moving VI Today to 7.30 when the Johnny de Mol talk show HLF8 is taken off the tube. “A very good idea.”
It is still not going well with HLF8, Johnny de Mol’s talk show, Angela de Jong noted yesterday at the talk show table of VI Today. “I’m really curious what will happen to Johnny. If you look purely at the ratings, he doesn’t make a dent in a pack of butter. I’m not ruling it out.”
VI to 7.30 pm?
It’s actually not such a bad program, says Angela. “You know what I think is crazy? When I’m watching it at night, I like it quite a bit. It’s always quite pleasant. (…) But once it’s over I always wonder what I’ve been watching. It doesn’t stick.”
According to Johan, Johnny is ‘not suitable’ as a talk show host and according to René, he does not ‘master’ the talk show profession. Angela: “I do have an idea for Mr De Mol, what he can do at that half past eight. He can put you there, right?”
Good idea
The men do listen. Rene: “Good too. Then we will be home earlier.”
Johan: “Angela, we like to decide things right away. I think this is an excellent idea. Then I will be back in safe Drenthe in time.”
Wilfred: “I’m for it.”
Rene: “Me too.”
Johan: “So decided! Director, take care of it!’

And what actually happens to Margriet van der Linden’s talk show? M’s ratings are so consistently bad that it’s not even news anymore. “When I look into my crystal ball, I think there will be something different on NPO 1 at the start of the next television season,” says Angela.
NPO 1 is going to knock off both M and Khalid & Sophie from the tube, she suspects. “Or Khalid & Sophie must have such a fantastic second season, but I can hardly imagine that.”
Bad ratings
Angela finds Margriet’s ratings laughable. “You had a huge news evening with the Amsterdam hostage situation, Putin declaring war and Europe in all states. Then you have an NPO 1 audience that I think is interested in all those things and then you have less than 600,000 viewers at 7 o’clock in the evening on NPO 1.”
Wilfred: “At the time when 1.4 million people were watching De Wereld Draait Door. Okay, so we’ll cross those out. M is gone and so are Khalid & Sophie.”
