VI men look back on demolishing Gordon: ‘No regrets at all’

It has been a long time since someone was humiliated so badly in Today Inside. Do the men regret mocking Gordon? “Not at all, no. He just asks for it,” says Johan Derksen.

Given Gordon’s short fuse, it is quite daring that he was put through the wringer so mercilessly in Today Inside. The men laughed at him for several minutes because of his incredibly false performance. At RTL Boulevard and Shownieuws they hardly dared to mention those false notes. What causes that? Gordon fear.

Gordon fear

Gordon fear? Well, that paints the picture A.D in each case. The newspaper has written a large article about Gordon and discovered that many people do not dare to give a quote about him: “Several people this newspaper tries to speak to about Gordon, who have worked with him or have been friends, do not want to say anything more about it.”

Why? “The relationship has cooled, words are always misinterpreted or ‘I’m not waiting for his messages, which will certainly come again’,” the newspaper said. It corresponds to the experiences of Albert Verlinde and Yvonne Coldeweijer, among others. She has decided not to even respond anymore.

BLVD and Show

The stars of Boulevard and Shownieuws apparently prefer to avoid confrontation. Even Evert Santegoeds was unusually positive at the Shownieuws desk after Gordon’s album presentation. After the images of his false performance, he shouted that he was one of the best singers in the Netherlands. Where did this suddenly come from?!

Luuk Ikink, the presenter of Boulevard, now acknowledges in the show section that he hardly dared to name those false notes, but states that this would be out of compassion. “Especially because you think: it would be nice for that guy to start something and not immediately be criticized or become a big mess.”

Wilfred called

After the VI massacre of Gordon, an editor from Luuk quickly got on the phone with Wilfred Genee. The talk show host talks in the latest Today Inside: “I received a call from Boulevard early this morning asking how we look back on the broadcast about Gordon, like: ‘Should you have done that? And didn’t it go a little too far?’”

Wilfred does not understand those questions. “I said: ‘It is what it is, we can’t ignore it of course.’”

Johan Derksen: “Is Boulevard worried about Gordon? They don’t worry about anyone.”

Wilfred: “It bothered them a little bit.”

No regrets

Does Johan regret his fierce statements about Gordon? “Not at all, no, because if someone profiles himself like that, with a lot of bla-blah, and criticizes everyone, and then he sings a song in a completely wrong key… Yes, then you get ridiculed for that seems logical to me.”

Table guest Wierd Duk: “It was really very false.”

Wilfred: “I think it’s almost just a bit sad.”

Johan: “It’s not sad. That boy is asking for it.”

Not bigger than it is

As a VI table guest, Albert Verlinde attacked Gordon the hardest. How does he look back on it? “I look back on it as that we had a great time talking to each other, the way Gordon normally talks about others. That’s actually what we did together. We should not make it bigger than it is,” he says in Boulevard.

He concludes: “I also hope that Gordon sees the humor in it. On the other hand, I really hope that he surprises us again soon with a fantastic live performance, because he can, but that wasn’t the case right now.”
