Perennial favorite makes a mark
Most recently, Wolfsburg’s long-running favorite Micky van de Ven indicated that he would not be averse to a move to a top European club. Now the turnaround: The 21-year-old Dutchman has extended his contract with VfL ahead of schedule. Van de Ven, who has not missed a minute of the game under Niko Kovac – alongside Matthias Ginter as the only outfield player in the Bundesliga (to the statistics) – and was originally bound for three years, signed a new working paper until June 30, 2027.
“We are pleased that Micky has extended his contract with us and that we can plan with him in the long term. He is a player with great potential who has developed strongly, especially this season, and has made his mark with his performances. The fact that Micky has now signed for the long term shows that he wants to continue the path he has taken with us together with VfL Wolfsburg,” said Marcel Schäfer, sporting director.
Van de Ven, who has played 30 games (one goal) since signing from FC Volendam for ‘Wolves’ for €3.5m, added: “It was always a dream of mine to play in the Bundesliga. That’s why I’m very happy that I’ll remain part of VfL Wolfsburg beyond 2025 and be able to continue my development here. I really enjoy playing in this team and would like to help VfL Wolfsburg achieve its goals.”table football“No opt-out clause.
