Saël Kumbedi, who has been on loan so far, has been signed permanently by VfL Wolfsburg. The purchase option applies to the 20-year-old Frenchman, as the Wolves announced on Monday evening. Kumbedi received a contract until 2029. According to the transferring club Olympique Lyon, a transfer fee of 6 million euros is due. A further 2 million euros can be added in bonuses. In addition, OL receives a ten percent share in any resale.

“We were specifically looking for a young, dynamic right-back with experience and development potential. Saël’s mentality also makes him a great fit for the team. We are very pleased that he will wear the VfL jersey in the future,” said then VfL sports director Sebastian Schindzielorz when signing him at the end of August.

Kumbedi has played ten games for VfL so far, in which he started nine times. Most recently, in the Bundesliga’s market value update, the youngster went up: from 7.5 million to 9 million euros. Kumbedi is the current U21 national player for his country.
