VfL Wolfsburg secured talent Dzenan Pejcinovic from FC Augsburg

17-year-old signs professional contract

VfL Wolfsburg has signed 17-year-old talent Dzenan Pejcinovic from league rivals FC Augsburg. The attacker signed a professional contract with Lower Saxony on Thursday until 2027. The German U17 international is leaving FCA after five years, the Munich-born player had previously also been trained at Bayern.

Sports director Marcel Schäfer explained: “We are very happy that we were able to convince Dzenan of our path and our philosophy. He has a lot of qualifications to be able to assert himself in the Bundesliga and is relatively advanced in his footballing development despite his young age. He has good technique, has a good overview of the game, moves towards goal and is also a real team player. Now it’s about gradually introducing him to the requirements of the Bundesliga and giving him the time he needs to continue developing at this high level.”

According to media reports, Juventus Turin and Manchester City are said to have shown interest in Pejcinovic. However, the striker decided to stay in Germany and is the third talent after Dikeni Salifou (19, Werder Bremen) and Noa-Gabriel Simic (17, Borussia Dortmund) to switch from the Augsburg youth team to a Bundesliga competitor.
