Max Kruse will never play under Felix Magath. The Wolfsburg striker described the Hertha coach as “Scheucher”. Now Kruse’s club is reacting to the statements – and is not very enthusiastic.
At VfL Wolfsburg, goalscorer Max Kruse’s critical comments about Hertha coach Felix Magath were not well received. “I found this explicit statement inappropriate and I told him so,” said Wolfsburg coach Florian Kohfeldt on Thursday. Sports director Marcel Schäfer agreed with criticism: “It is inappropriate to talk about Bundesliga colleagues in general or to express certain criticism.”
Wolfsburg’s top scorer Max Kruse had ruled out ever wanting to play under Magath. “I go everywhere, but never to Magath,” Kruse said recently in a question and answer session with fans broadcast on his Twitch channel. “He’s a shyer! But I heard he gives you a break after 30. But he’s sick! He makes medicine balls until people puke.”
Schäfer emphasized that Kruse’s statements also went against someone who had achieved “extraordinary things” in Wolfsburg. Magath led Wolfsburg to their only German championship in 2009. His manner is “very much appreciated” at VfL. “Although you can say with a smile: What would have become of Max Kruse if he had trained under Felix Magath,” said Schäfer. According to the statements, he did not seek contact with Magath.
