“Micky has great potential”
Micky van de Ven is probably the biggest winner of the current season at VfL Wolfsburg. The defensive talent is one of only two outfield players in the Bundesliga who have played every game so far and not missed a single minute. In addition, the 21-year-old doubled his market value to 8 million euros in the last update. Now van de Ven has made it clear that he would not be averse to moving to another top league.
“If at some point a really good team comes from Spain or England, then I’ll think about it,” said the Dutch U21 international to dpa. He also said: “It was always a dream of mine to play in the Bundesliga. Playing in the Premier League is also a dream of mine. These leagues are amazing.”
Van de Ven has been with VfL since 2021, which then transferred EUR 3.5 million to FC Volendam from the Netherlands. “Micky has great potential. If he continues to work on himself every day and shows the same commitment, then he has a great future ahead of him,” Wolfsburg’s new sports director Marcel Schäfer is quoted as saying by the news agency. “When a young player like him didn’t miss a second in the Bundesliga season, that’s extraordinary,” emphasized the 38-year-old. Van de Ven is under contract with the “Wolves” until 2025.
First of all, the defender is aiming for the European Cup with Lower Saxony: “Of course I dream of the Champions League, but that’s not an issue for us at the moment, the gap is currently too big. Right now it’s more about the Conference League or the Europa League.” First of all, the focus should be on the current situation, VfL is seventh after 22 match days and five behind a place in the European Cup. Most recently, Wolfsburg were represented internationally (Champions League) in the pre-season.
