VfL Wolfsburg. Kruse goes “everywhere, but never to Magath” – trains Hertha BSC

With Hertha before relegation

After his 300th Bundesliga game, Max Kruse made it clear under which coach he would not like to appear under any circumstances in the future – regardless of the fact that the attacker still has a contract with VfL Wolfsburg until June 2023. “I go everywhere. But never to Magath,” said the 34-year-old attacker (quoted via “BZ”) in a live stream on “Twitch” and answered a user’s question.

Felix Magath took over in mid-March at the Berlin Bundesliga club Hertha BSC, which is in danger of being relegated. The chances of staying up in the league are now good. As head coach in the German Oberhaus, he recently surpassed the 500-game mark, which means seventh place in the ranking for the most games as a Bundesliga coach.

Kruse explained in a direct way why a commitment under the 68-year-old is absolutely out of the question for him. “He’s a scoundrel. But I heard he gives you a break after 30. But he’s sick! He makes medicine balls until people puke,” said Kruse. The ex-national player (14 appearances) has played for six professional clubs in Germany so far, most of the competitive games were at FC St. Pauli (100). Most often Kruse had to deal with Lucien Favre – the Swiss trained the professional in 77 matches, closely followed by Florian Kohfeldt (73), who as the current Wolfsburg trainer has a good chance of taking over the top spot shortly.

Magath with Hertha BSC shortly before relegation – Boateng praises

In the Transfermarkt interview, ex-striker Kevin Kuranyi had said, among other things, about the employment of Magath, who is considered old-fashioned and under whom he was used 130 times, at Hertha BSC: “Maybe it’s quite good if he doesn’t play 100 percent fits in. Maybe something completely different is needed now.” Kevin-Prince Boateng (35), who plays an important role for the Berliners under Magath, recently replied with a smile to a reporter’s question about what the multiple champion coach had done with the Hertha professionals who had regained their strength: “ Machinery.”
