VfL Wolfsburg – FC Bayern: Groundbreaking summit meeting

After four matchdays, the women’s Bundesliga has reported an average of 2,270 visitors – almost three times as many as in the previous season (811). But here, too, Wolfsburg is further ahead than Bavaria: For years, the number of spectators there has barely exceeded the 1,000 mark, only now has the campus with its 2,500 seats been fully occupied twice.

And the FCB bosses also waited a long time before moving to the arena: CEO Oliver Kahn sold the 13,000 fans for the premiere against Paris St. Germain in the spring as a milestone, but his club is certainly capable of much more.

As far as anchoring in the club and city is concerned, the VW subsidiary is further along. Record attendance for Wolfsburg’s footballers is 22,057 supporters, who came against FC Barcelona on April 30 when they missed out on reaching the Champions League final after their strong showing.
