Bundesliga club VfL Wolfsburg would like to continue on the path with coach Florian Kohfeldt in the next season.
“Assume that we start the new season with Florian Kohfeldt,” said managing director Jörg Schmadtke after the 1-1 (1-0) win at VfB Stuttgart, which secured Lower Saxony’s relegation, at “Sky”.
Schmadtke announced that after the “minimum goal” had been reached, he would have another conversation with Kohfeldt, whose contract runs until 2023.
“Things are not the sole responsibility of Florian Kohfeldt, he led the team to where we wanted them to go in the end,” said the sports boss.
Overall, Schmadtke emphasized, the season was “not satisfactory, not good”: “That’s not our claim, we had completely different goals.”
