National player of Croatia
VfL Wolfsburg and Bayer 04 Leverkusen are apparently after the same player. As transfer expert Fabrizio Romano tweeted, the Bundesliga side have made offers for Lovro Majer from Stade Rennes. The 25-year-old midfielder was one of the all-time favorites in his team last season, scoring three goals and seven assists in 42 appearances.
The Croatian international moved from GNK Dinamo Zagreb to Rennes for €12m in 2021, where he increased his market value to €20m. At the end of October, Majer extended his contract, which originally ran until 2026, by another year and announced that he wanted to “continue to grow with the club”. A change could now be imminent, especially because Rennes is said to be ahead of the commitments of Enzo Le Fée (also traded at BVB) and Ludovic Blas for midfield.
