MT Melsungen will have a new head coach in a year: Jaron Siewert will take over from Roberto Garcia Parrondo, who is leaving North Hesse after his contract ends.

Jaron Siewert will be the new head coach of handball Bundesliga team MT Melsungen from summer 2027. The club announced this on Monday. Accordingly, the 32-year-old signed a contract until 2030.

Parrondo is leaving MT in 2027

Siewert will take over from Roberto Garcia Parrondo, who wants to move to a top international team after his contract ends in 2027. He had already told MT this at the beginning of the year. “We respect Roberto’s decision and are also proud that an MT coach has aroused the interest of a top international club,” said MT sports director Jesper Larsson.

Parrondo’s successor Siewert has shown “that he supports, challenges and can integrate young players into a Bundesliga team.” He also has the necessary instinct to find a good mix for a successful team.

Siewert will be there next season

“The task really appeals to me. I would like to do my part to implement and help shape the new strategy,” said Siewert, who most recently worked at Füchse Berlin. Last fall he suffered a stroke. “I’m doing well and I can’t wait to get back to work,” he said.

Siewert will start working for the European Cup winners next season – “initially in an advisory role in the areas of scouting, squad planning from the 2027/28 season, youth concept and cooperation,” as it was said.
