VfL Wolfsburg are champions in the first half of the season

Cup winners VfL Wolfsburg were crowned champions of the women’s football Bundesliga with a win at SGS Essen.

In the 3-1 (0-0) win on matchday 11, Ewa Pajor was the match winner with a goal and an assist. Despite the defeat, Essen remains in fifth place.

In the first round, Lena Lattwein (21st) and Alexandra Popp (45th + 2) missed good chances to take the lead.

After the break, the outsider took the lead through Lilli Purtscheller (51.) and woke up the Wolves.

Vivien Endemann (56th) pushed a Pajor cross over the line, Marina Hegering (66th) scored beautifully with a long-range shot and Pajor (69th) completed their fifth win in a row with a solo run.

Defending champion Bayern Munich is one point behind VfL in second place.
