With the Max Kruse personnel, VfL Wolfsburg wants to deal more intensively with the start of the changeover period in the new year.
“We still have a month and a half until January 1st, when the transfer window will officially open. That’s why we said clearly: the focus for us as a club is on the season, on the games,” said Wolfsburg’s sports director Marcel Schäfer before the home game in the Bundesliga against Borussia Dortmund on the “Sky” broadcaster.
“We are in contact with the player and his agent. I think we had a very open and honest conversation, especially with Max, about how we want to go about the next few weeks and months,” said the former professional. “It was then also decided that we would rely on the players who are in the squad today.”
VfL hopes for a “solution in winter”
The 34-year-old offensive player was suspended by coach Niko Kovac some time ago, and he then suffered a torn muscle fiber. Most recently, Kruse, who is known for his public appearances and statements, ignited in the direction of captain Maximilian Arnold, who was undisputed in Wolfsburg.
At the club, the 14-time international is accused of a lack of professionalism and a bad influence on the rest of the team. His contract is valid until the end of this season, he surprisingly switched from 1. FC Union Berlin to Wolfsburg at the beginning of this year. They also made a decision that it might be best “if we find a solution in winter,” said Schäfer.
