VfL Osnabrück is repositioning itself after a disappointing season – and separates from its head coach.

The chapter Marco Antwerp has already ended at VfL Osnabrück. As the third division reported, the collaboration with the 53-year-old and assistant coach Frank Döpper ends with immediate effect. Antwerp had stabilized the team after taking office in December, won an average of 1.68 points per game and secured the relegation.

“In view of the missed qualification for the DFB Cup and the overall development in the past few weeks and days, it is clear that we generally have to realign ourselves in a sporting area in a structural and personnel,” said VfL managing director Michael Welling. The aim is to make the club future -proof in the long term.

For Osnabrück it is already the third separation from a head coach this season. After the second division descent, Uwe Koschinat had to go in September, in December it followed for Pit Reimers.

Antwerp then took over and brought stability – but that was not enough for further employment.
