VfL Osnabrück continues the negative series in Elversberg

Bottom team VfL Osnabrück has continued its negative streak in the 2nd Bundesliga and is sliding unchecked towards relegation.

Coach Uwe Koschinat’s team lost the duel between the promoted teams at SV Elversberg 1:3 (0:3) and after 15 games in a row without a win they have to start planning for the 3rd league.

Manuel Feil (36th), Hugo Vandermersch (38th) and Paul Wanner (45th + 5) ensured the decision in favor of the Saarlanders before the break, who consolidated their place in the secured midfield. Maxwell Gyamfi (52nd) only managed to connect, Osnabrück has long since lost sight of the saving bank.

Since a safety net had to be correctly attached in front of the Osnabrück fan block, the game started around 15 minutes late. In addition, the VfL fans used tennis balls to cause an interruption shortly after kick-off before an uneventful game developed. Before the break, however, Elversberg turned up the heat and caught the harmless guests off guard.

Despite the clear three-goal deficit, Osnabrück came out of the locker room motivated and thanks to Gyamfi’s save, they came close. However, the momentum fizzled out again during the second round.
