VfL Gummersbach first class again after three years

After three years, VfL Gummersbach is back in the Handball Bundesliga. The rise of the traditional club is perfect with the 27:27 of ASV Hamm-Westfalen at TV Großwallstadt.

After the 34:26 at the SG BBM Bietigheim, the Gummersbachers from the remaining five games would have sufficed with a single further point for promotion. Due to the loss of points by second-placed Hamm, this is now prematurely sealed.

After 33 of 38 match days, Gummersbach comfortably leads the table with eleven points ahead of the pursuers. The twelve-time German champion was relegated from the Bundesliga in 2019.

In addition to Hamm, HSG Nordhorn-Lingen, third in the table, currently has the best chance of moving up as the second team alongside Gummerbach.
