Moritz-Broni Kwarteng from VfL Bochum has been banned for three games in the Bundesliga for his assault in the game against RB Leipzig (1:4).
The German Football Association (DFB) announced this on Tuesday. In the 86th minute, Kwarteng hit his opponent Lois Openda from behind without a chance to get the ball and was shown a red card for it. The DFB classified the action as an assault in a minor case.
The Bochum team will miss the offensive player in the landmark matches against SC Freiburg on Sunday (3:30 p.m./DAZN) as well as against their direct competitors FSV Mainz 05 (March 16) and Darmstadt 98 (March 31).
