Moritz-Broni Kwarteng’s rude attack on Loïs Openda (24) in the 4-1 defeat against RB Leipzig had double consequences for the Bochum player. After he was banned for three games by the DFB sports court, VfL confirmed on Wednesday that the 25-year-old suffered a partial rupture of the medial ligament in his knee in the situation. The offensive player will be missing at least until the end of the season.
“We are very sorry for him,” said sports director Marc Lettau. “Momo has invested a lot to become an important factor for our team. We will provide him with the best possible medical support so that he can attack again in the new season.” The newcomer, who missed the start of the season due to an irritation of the pubic bone, only played 267 minutes in eleven games for the Bochum team.
