KSC goalscorer wants to go to the Bundesliga
VfL Bochum seems to have taken advantage of the moment – the fact that they were almost certain to stay up early on – and brought a top-class striker out of the 2nd division: Like the “picture“-Zeitung reports, Karlsruhe’s top scorer Philipp Hofmann is about to move to Castroper Strasse, although Mainz 05 is not said to be out of the game yet.

“We don’t let ourselves be carried away, but we clearly want to go to the Bundesliga,” Hofmann’s advisor Tobias Sander (“Roof” agency) is quoted as saying. That doesn’t give much information about the goal of the 29-year-old, but the newspaper knows that VfL sporting director Sebastian Schindzielorz Hofmann has had his eye on him for a long time and is now probably on the hook. However, nothing has been signed yet. Alleged other interested parties such as Mainz, which were linked with the striker in the last summer transfer period, as well as Bochum, are not yet out of the game. Last year, KSC is said to have rejected prospective buyers, a winter move to Bochum failed, as the “WAZ“Wrote the amount of the fee, which was not representable for VfL. Hofmann’s contract is now up and he has the freedom to make a free transfer.

With a view to the future VfL squad, Hofmann would complete the attack alongside the veterans Simon Zoller (30, contract until 2024) and Sebastian Polter (31, until 2023). Bochum’s plans for the center forward position are now complete, Jürgen Locadia (28) would leave the Revierklub in return after his free transfer for the winter (his contract also expires in the summer). In central midfield, VfL see the next need for action after the Hofmann commitment. There, the current Mainz player Kevin Stöger (28) is still considered a dream player according to “WAZ”. There had also been corresponding rumors last year.

Special goal anniversary at KSC: Hofmann among the best second division clippers
The former Schalke Hofmann returned to Germany in 2017 after a EUR 1 million transfer to Kaiserslautern (2014) and a EUR 2 million move to FC Brentford (2015) and then to the wildlife park via Greuther Fürth and Eintracht Braunschweig in 2019 came. Since then he has averaged 0.5 goals per game at KSC.
Hofmann crowned his anniversary of the 100th competitive game for Karlsruher last weekend against Paderborn with his 50th goal. In the current season alone, 17 goals have already been scored – currently the second highest figure in the league. In terms of goals per game (0.59), with Simon Terodde and Marvin Ducksch only two competitors currently active in the 2nd Bundesliga have recorded better values in the current season.
