Stuttgart’s Wataru Endo (29) can take part in the World Cup in Qatar. The Japanese captain of the Swabians was unconscious for a short time after a violent collision in the 2-1 win against Hertha BSC last week. Endo was then taken to the hospital. There he spent the night with suspected concussion but without further complications, as the club announced on Wednesday. Finally, on Monday afternoon, the final decision was made: after a final examination, Endo was given the green light for the world championship.

In the last game of the calendar year on Saturday (3.30 p.m.) at Bayer Leverkusen, the national player was still missing. “Leverkusen is not important for him at first. Wataru deserves to be the captain of his team at the World Cup,” said VfB sporting director Sven Mislintat before the game. The side posed for a jubilant picture wearing Endo’s jersey in the dressing room after the late win that saw Konstantinos Mavropanos score in the eighth minute of added time. On November 23rd in Qatar, Japan is the opening opponent of the German team.
