VfB Stuttgart wins friendly against FC Brentford

VfB Stuttgart celebrated another sense of achievement at the end of their training camp. The Swabians defeated the English first division team FC Brentford 2-1 (0-1) in a friendly in Friedrichshafen on Saturday.

The Bundesliga side had previously spent a week preparing for the coming season in Weiler-Simmerberg in the Allgäu. Attacker Bryan Mbeumo gave Brentford the lead (12th minute), youngster Thomas Kastanaras (72nd) and Tanguy Coulibaly, who also came on as a substitute, with a hand penalty (90+2) turned the lively game in favor of Stuttgart.

In the first half, VfB coach Pellegrino Matarazzo fielded what is probably his currently strongest team. Under-21 national player Josha Vagnoman, signed by Hamburger SV, made his debut on the right-hand side.

Half an hour before the end, Colombian striker Juan José Perea, brought in from PAS Ioannina, made his debut in a VfB jersey and missed a good chance.

In the fourth test game this summer, it was the fourth win for the Swabians. They will start their competitive game on July 29th in the first round of the DFB Cup at third division club Dynamo Dresden.
