According to “Stuttgart News”
While VfB Stuttgart is expecting offers for the courted central defenders Konstantinos Mavropanos (25) and Hiroki Ito (23) in the summer, the Swabians apparently already have a replacement up their sleeve. As the “Stuttgart News“report, VfB is considering bringing Matej Maglica back.

Accordingly, it is quite possible that the Stuttgart-based company will soon make use of an anchored buyback option. The 1.98 meter defensive giant was part of the VfB reserve from the summer of 2020 to the end of 2021, before he was first loaned and then permanently drawn to FC St. Gallen 1879 – but not without a contractual clause. The Stuttgart-based company should be able to bring the Croatian back for 450,000 euros, well below the current market value of 750,000 euros.
With Silas, Kalajdzic & Co: VfB Stuttgart’s most expensive purchases
Maglica made 41 appearances for the Swabians’ second team and even made his Bundesliga debut in November 2021 in a 0-1 draw against Arminia Bielefeld. The central defender immediately secured a regular place with the Swiss first division club from St. Gallen, for the current fifth in the table, who is still fighting for a place in the European Cup, there are 45 appearances (four goals) to date.
Loaned professionals at VfB Stuttgart without a great future
The future looks different for the six awarded VfB professionals. According to Kicker, Roberto Massimo (22; Académico Viseu), Momo Cissé (20; Wisla Kraków) and Clinton Mola (22; Blackburn Rovers) are to be sold. Mateo Klimowicz (22; Atlético de San Luis) should either be loaned out again or also given up.
Another loan is planned for Mohamed Sankoh (19; Vitesse Arnheim), while Wahid Faghir (19) is the only one who can hope for a new chance in Stuttgart. After initial difficulties at FC Nordsjaelland, the attacker scored four goals in 15 appearances, but the purchase option of just over 4 million euros will probably not be exercised.
