Speculations about a farewell to Sasa Kalajdzic from VfB Stuttgart have persisted for months. Now the striker has apparently found a new club. As a successor, a youngster could switch from FC Bayern to the Swabians.
As “sky” and “The Athleticreport, Kalajdzic has reached an agreement in principle with Wolverhampton Wanderers.
According to the TV broadcaster, negotiations between those responsible at VfB Stuttgart and those at the Premier League club are still ongoing.
According to the report, the Swabians are demanding 25 million euros for Kalajdzic, whose contract runs until 2023. According to “Sky”, an agreement of around 20 million euros is realistic.
Sporting director Sven Mislintat has now confirmed Wolverhampton Wanderers’ interest. “There are initial interests from England, the Wolves are one of them,” said Mislintat on “Sky”, “but at the moment it’s not really concrete on either side.”
Kalajdzic has been a candidate for a change this summer for a long time and recently didn’t seem completely free from the head. “The longer it takes, the more uncomfortable it gets,” the 25-year-old said after the 2-2 draw at Werder Bremen on the third Bundesliga matchday about his uncertain future.
Kalajdzic is still waiting for his first goal of the current season. But three templates are already on the books.
In the meantime, Kalajdzic has also been traded as the successor to Robert Lewandowski or Erling Haaland at FC Bayern or Borussia Dortmund. Manchester United and Chelsea FC have also been said to be interested.
Joshua Zirkzee from FC Bayern approaching?
Should Stuttgart actually sell Kalajdzic, it can be assumed that VfB will intensify their efforts to attract Joshua Zirkzee from FC Bayern.
As “Sky” reports, the 21-year-old Dutchman is the preferred option, basically plan 1B, should Kalajdzic go. According to the report, there has already been a phone call between VfB and Bayern officials about Zirkzee.
Accordingly, the German record champions are demanding 20 million euros for the striker, who was trained in the youth of the record champions but was recently loaned out several times. At his previous station at RSC Anderlecht, Zirkzee impressed in all competitions in 2021/22 with 18 goals and 13 assists.
However, the Swabians do not want to pay the said 20 million euros, tending towards a transfer fee of 13 million euros plus bonus payments, which are now common in the industry.
Recently, however, there had been reports that Zirkzee was moving back to Anderlecht.
