VfB Stuttgart is the positive surprise of the current Bundesliga season so far. The Swabians have already achieved three wins in the first four match days, with the team scoring a whopping 14 goals this season. Head coach Sebastian Hoeneß enjoys the moment after the 3-1 away win at 1. FSV Mainz 05.
After several top performers left VfB in the last transfer summer with former captain Wataru Endo, as well as regular players Borna Sosa and Konstantinos Mavropanos, many Bundesliga observers were already expecting a very difficult season for Stuttgart.
But the team around Serhou Guirassy, who had been the outstanding goalscorer to date, proved all the supposed experts wrong and shot their way up to fourth place in the table with 14 goals in four games – just one point behind the leading duo Bayer Leverkusen and FC Bayern.
The team is currently appearing on the pitch as a unit, seeking its luck and success with attacking offensive football. Head coach Sebastian Hoeneß was extremely satisfied with his team’s early form.
VfB will next face Darmstadt and Cologne
“We have developed team unity, dynamism and self-confidence over the last few weeks. You can currently see the run we are on. That makes me proud,” said the VfB coach to “Bild”.
The goal for the coming weeks is now to gain consistency in one’s own performance and quickly experience further successes in order to further increase self-confidence.
The upcoming tasks in the Bundesliga give the VfB protagonists hope for further success. The home game against SV Darmstadt 98 is on September 22nd, and a week later on September 30th we will play 1. FC Köln, who are still in 16th place in the table without a win this season.
