VfB Stuttgart: Undav beckons DFB nomination

Deniz Undav from VfB Stuttgart recently made no secret of his desire to take part in the 2024 European Championship. The striker’s chances of being nominated for the German national football team are probably not bad.

Deniz Undav is outstanding at VfB Stuttgart this season. The German-Turk has already scored nine goals in eleven competitive games. There are also two assists.

No wonder that national coach Julian Nagelsmann already has the loan from Brighton & Hove Albion on the list, Sky reports.

Accordingly, Undav will receive his first DFB nomination in the friendly matches against France and the Netherlands in March. However, the prerequisite for this is that the 27-year-old continues his previous performance in the coming weeks and months.

According to the TV station, a phone call has already taken place between Undav and Nagelsmann.

Undav could also play for Turkey

However, the coach shouldn’t take too much time. The VfB attacker, who has both German and Turkish citizenship, could eventually also play for Turkey. With his first outing, Undav would cement himself playing for a nation.

Undav himself recently dreamed of taking part in the European Championships. “That would mean a lot to me. The only thing that’s still missing from my career is the national team,” said the 27-year-old in the “Sky” interview and added: “What could be better than playing for your country “I would be proud, you couldn’t be prouder.”

As before, he left it “open” whether this dream should come true with Germany or Turkey. According to “Sky”, the striker is currently leaning towards the DFB and is waiting for his first nomination.

The national soccer team is currently looking for an alternative to Niclas Füllkrug. Kevin Behrens (Union Berlin) and Marvin Ducksch (Werder Bremen) were most recently tested by Nagelsmann.
