Exit clause expired

Sebastian Hoeneß assumes that top scorer Serhou Guirassy (27) will stay at VfB Stuttgart. “I’ve always said that I feel like he’s comfortable, that I don’t get any signals of any other kind. I still haven’t received it,” said the 41-year-old on Thursday. “As long as I have the feeling that Serhou is with himself and is normal, I also know that everything is okay.” But he is currently not having any discussions with Guirassy about this. “He should concentrate on the Africa Cup and get healthy.”
Guirassy is currently missing from the third-place team in the Bundesliga because he is taking part in the Africa Cup of Nations with the Guinea national team. He was recently sidelined there due to a thigh strain. There have long been rumors of a change surrounding the second-best goalscorer of the current Bundesliga season with 17 goals. According to media reports, the exit clause in his contract for this winter for 17.5 million euros has recently expired.

Because Silas (25), Woo-yeong Jeong (24) and Hiroki Ito (24) are also in action for their national teams, the Stuttgart squad is also thinned out for the away game on Saturday (3:30 p.m./Sky) at VfL Bochum. While sports director Fabian Wohlgemuth recently emphasized that he was “currently” planning without new additions, Hoeneß is not ruling them out.
“The squad isn’t super big. That’s why you could think about it. But I won’t demand anything publicly. The situation is also tricky, the boys will be back in four weeks,” said Hoeneß. “We’ll see what happens in the next two weeks. Nothing crazy won’t happen. But of course that is our job. We have to be vigilant.”
