VfB Stuttgart lends Wahid Faghir to SV Elversberg in the 2nd division

“Match practice first”

After VfB Stuttgart did not take storm talent Wahid Faghir to the training camp, which had already been canceled due to the weather, he has now temporarily found a new club. Second division promoted SV 07 Elversberg is loaning the 19-year-old Danish U-national player for a year, as the clubs announced on Wednesday.

With a market value of 2.5 million euros, Faghir is by far the most valuable new signing in the club’s history at SVE. So far, the record was held by Alban Meha (37), who was valued at 900,000 euros when he moved to Elversberg in 2018/19.

VfB sporting director Fabian Wohlgemuth said of Faghir’s transfer: “Match practice comes first when it comes to taking the next step in development as a young player. From our point of view, Wahid finds exactly the right opportunity for probation in Elversberg. He can take responsibility and will be challenged there to a healthy degree. Seen in this way, this side-step is logical and makes sense. We will stay in touch and wish him all the best and every success for the coming season.”

His colleague Nils-Ole Book said: “Wahid Faghir is a very complete striker with his physique, playing quality and finishing power and is therefore an asset for us. He will strengthen our offensive game with his extraordinary skills, we are looking forward to the season with him.” Faghir himself added: “I am convinced that the move to Elversberg is the right step for my further development. I look forward to getting to know the squad and helping the team have a successful season.”
