VfB Stuttgart are trying to sign central defender Jakov Medic. As “Stuttgarter News” and the “Stuttgarter Zeitung” report that the Swabians and the professional from FC St. Pauli should even agree on a change. Negotiations between the clubs about the transfer fee for the 23-year-old are still ongoing – it is said that Hamburg has rejected an initial offer from VfB.

According to reports, the sum offered was 2 million euros plus bonuses. The Croatian Medic’s contract with St. Pauli runs until June 2024, and its market value is currently EUR 1.3 million. The defender scored two goals in the Kiezklub’s 4-3 win in the first round of the DFB Cup at regional league club SV Straelen on Saturday.
Medic switched from Wehen Wiesbaden to FC St. Pauli in 2021 for 400,000 euros and developed into a regular with the second division club. Should he leave the club, Medic would be the 13th exit this summer as a result of a change. According to the reports, the right-footer has a commitment to leave the FCSP. Sports director Andreas Bornemann does not think about letting the top performer go. Meanwhile, VfB and manager Sven Mislintat can well imagine adding a little more to the transfer fee, it is said.
