Search for Endo successor in progress
After the departure of captain Wataru Endo (30), VfB Stuttgart is apparently interested in signing Kristijan Jakic from league competitor Eintracht Frankfurt. The Swabians would consider a loan with a subsequent purchase option for the defensive midfielder, reported the “table football” and “sky” on Monday. Talks between the player and VfB are ongoing, but there have not yet been any negotiations between the clubs because not all points have been clarified with the professional.

The 26-year-old Jakic can be used flexibly in defence, can play both in midfield and in defense – this all-rounder profile appeals to VfB. He was initially loaned out by Dinamo Zagreb in the summer of 2021 before being committed a year later for 3.5 million euros. During this period he played 75 compulsory games for the Hessians as a regular. With newcomer Ellyes Skhiri (28), the SBU brought strong competition in defensive midfield for the Croatian, whose contract runs until 2026.
In Stuttgart, after Endo’s farewell to FC Liverpool, there is a need, especially in defensive midfield. Only (26) remains in this position. Daniel Elfadli (26; Magdeburg), in whom HSV is also interested, and Hoffenheim’s Angelo Stiller (22), whom Hoeneß already knows from times together at TSG and FC Bayern II, have recently been traded in the TM rumor mill. Now, according to reports, Jakic is also coming into focus, who could also help out in central defense, where Konstantinos Mavropanos (25) is about to jump to West Ham United.
