Before the relegation first leg against second division Hamburger SV on Thursday (8:45 p.m. / Sat.1 and Sky), Bundesliga club VfB Stuttgart sent an important signal for the future.
The Swabians have made use of the contractually agreed purchase option for Serhou Guirassy and signed the goalscorer, who was previously on loan from the French first division club Stade Rennes. This was announced by VfB on Wednesday.
Stuttgart agreed with the 27-year-old on a league-independent contract until June 30, 2026. Guirassy scored eleven goals in 22 league games.
“Serhou has sufficiently demonstrated his qualities over the past few weeks and months, and not only his goal record is convincing. It is a good signal that we have now been able to come to an agreement with Serhou to continue our cooperation,” said VfB sporting director Fabian Wohlgemuth .
After signing, Guirassy emphasized that he would give everything “that VfB will play in the Bundesliga again next season”.
The relegation second leg will take place in Hamburg on Monday.
